Macular Degeneration is the leading cause of blindness in this
country. It affects more white males and females than any other race.

There are two types of Macular Degeneration: “Dry” and “Wet.” “Dry” is a
less serious form but still can be dangerous, and “Wet” macular
degeneration usually involves leaky blood vessels that scar and cause
permanent blindness in your central visual field. If you see a spot in the
center of your vision that wasn’t there before, or if straight lines in the center
of your vision appear wavy in one or both eyes, you may be suffering from
macular degeneration.

There is no cure for this condition, but if properly diagnosed early, there are
excellent treatments available that can help slow the progression of the condition
and help preserve any eyesight remaining.
