Most types of glaucoma involve abnormal high pressure inside the eye,
which results in peripheral visual field loss. Peripheral vision loss occurs
slowly over time, and the patient is unaware of this loss in the early stages.
There is no cure for glaucoma, but if detected early and treated accordingly,
patients will have the opportunity to outlive their condition and limit the amount
of peripheral visual field that may be lost due to glaucoma.

Everyone’s favorite, “Puff-of-air” test is the part of the eye exam that tests for intraocular pressure and early signs of Glaucoma. Everyone should get their intraocular pressures tested annually during a comprehensive eye exam!
